Micronutrients are one of the major groups of nutrients our body needs in small amount and are critical for several important functions in our body. Generally, the term micronutrient is used to describe vitamins and minerals. Humans must consume micronutrients from food since our body cannot produce vitamins and minerals for the most part. That’s why they’re also referred to as essential nutrients.
Vitamins are required for energy productions, immune function, blood clotting and other functions. Vitamins are organic compounds made by animals and plants and they can be broken down by acid, air, and/or heat.
Minerals play a significant role in growth, bone health, fluid balance and several other processes. minerals are inorganic, exist in soil or water and cannot be broken down by acid, air, and/or heat.
